QNX was named as the operating system under neueHCT's German platform camera win

QNX, a division of BlackBerry, and neueHCT said on September 28 that a major German automaker had selected neueHCT’s HCT Luna smart camera for a global passenger vehicle platform launching in China. Neither company named the carmaker.

The camera is built on Horizon Robotics’ Journey 6B compute platform and runs QNX OS for Safety 8.0, which the release said is certified to ISO 26262 ASIL D and assessed to ISO/SAE 21434 for cybersecurity. Production begins in 2027, with projected volumes of several million units within the first three years. The module supports automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and traffic light recognition, and the companies said it is designed to make a front-view camera standard equipment rather than an option.

SDV Sector reported the same design win on August 26, from a release by Horizon Robotics that named the compute platform and the supplier but not the operating system. Two details have moved since. Horizon’s August release put the export markets as Australia, New Zealand and India; Monday’s release lists Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea, and does not mention India. The production year and the volume estimate are unchanged.

BlackBerry made no filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission about this program. That is worth stating because its Coretura win a week earlier arrived as an 8-K carrying a royalty backlog figure; no figure accompanies this one, and the Canadian register was not checked.
